We Will Be White With Fire

          The Transfiguration
          brings the hope of glory
          to our poor human bodies.
          We must never hate ourselves
          over any physical imperfection,
          or any mark of affliction
          borne upon the body.
          We must not be anxious
          for the young brief beauty
          that passes away.
It is our very own flesh
          that has been loved,
and that is destined to shine,
          white with the brightness
          of Love's fire.
Let us be good to ourselves,
and to one another, for we are loved
          and we are wanted...forever.

Dear John, I read this to my brother as he sat down to rest before lunch.... his body and mind worn, strained and beaten down...what hope the gift of the Transfiguration gives...

..and as Merton puts it .."how can you tell them they are shining like the sun??"

...Oh God increase faith , hope and love in the world...... increase faith, hope and love in myself, my beloved husband and my children
my brother.

(He is suffering from a brain tumor, and chronic depression)

Once again John...your perseverance is an inspiration...

Peace,
Bridget
