God grants a unique grace to Peter, James, and John as witnesses to His luminous Transfiguration on Mount Tabor prior to His going up to Jerusalem to accomplish the redemption of the world. But an abundance of grace also flows out to all of us who encounter Jesus in the Scriptural account and liturgical celebration of this great sign, which we receive "through faith" in the testimony of the Gospel, given by the Holy Spirit and sustained through two millennia within the life of the Church.
Here is a sign of eternal glory, the promised fulfillment of the Father's plan to renew all things through His Son Jesus and all those who "listen to Him" and follow Him and trust in Him. It is a sign for our memory, so that even in the midst of the greatest darkness and the ruins of sin and death, we can have confidence that evil does not have the final word!
Thus, we remember the glory of Christ — the resurrected Christ who has conquered death — and we live in hope and offer all our days in union with Him.
